Alabama Newsprint Maker AbitibiBowater Announces 90 layoffs

Papermaker AbitibiBowater has announced 90 layoffs at a plant in Coosa Pines, Alabama. Workers were informed of the decision last week, per state records.The press has been unable to reach officials at AbitibiBowater for a statement.
The Coosa Pines plant manufactures newsprint.
In 2009 alone, Alabama employers have eliminated more than 14,000 jobs via payroll reductions or plant shutdowns, according to papers filed with the state.
