French company Alstom SA is laying off 500 people at its rail assembly facility in western New York, leaving 200 to 300 employees at the plant. The plant has only one active contract, building rail cars for New York’s MTA. The firm plans to bid for contracts next year to build cars for metro rail lines in San Francisco, Miami and Philadelphia.
In addition to building cars for metropolitan rail lines, Alstom is a leader in building high speed and ultra high speed trains including the TGV and Eurostar series. Based in Pairs, Alstom is a global company employing over 81,000 people.
What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
