NTELOS Plans Job Cuts

NTELOS, a telecommunications provider based in Virginia, announced that it was planning to cut an unspecified number of jobs. The job cuts will be primarily in support positions and not in areas the deal directly with customers. Some jobs will be eliminated through early retirement or by not filling vacant positions, and the rest will come as layoffs. The company expects to spend $1.5 million in severance packages and added retirement benefits next year, and realize a $4 million savings in payroll.
