That 2009 was a rough year for the job market should come as a surprise to nobody. Not all professions suffered in equal amounts, however. According to the most recent numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which cover the first three quarters of 2009, the two jobs that took the biggest hit were architects and carpenters. Again, it’s no longer news to say that the construction industry is struggling and bleeding jobs across the country. Drops in discretionary income means fewer vacations and so pilots were number four on the list. Bank tellers also took a heavy hit, coming in at number eight as banks merged and closed.
