These jobs are temporary, with some lasting through July. Pay ranges from $8-$24 an hour depending on geographic location and skill. The average pay of a door to door census worker in the Houston area will be $11.25 an hour. The Census Bureau mails out questionnaires in March. Census workers will visit households who have failed to return their census form and assist them in filling out the forms. Most work will be performed in the evening and during the weekends.
