Xerox Plans to Cut 2,500 Jobs

Xerox Corp. plans to cut upwards of 2,500 jobs, or about four percent of its work force, as part of a restructuring plan that could save the company around $200 million a year.The looming cuts were announced Thursday by chief executive Urula Burns during a conference call outlining the company’s fourth-quarter earnings report. Burns indicated some of the job losses would be in Europe, but did not give an exact figure.
Xerox had previously slashed 3,500 jobs beginning in late 2008. The company had 53,600 employees at the end of 2009.
