Aetna, which cut 625 jobs in November, has cut the same number in a second round of layoffs. Citing the economy, the health insurer cut more than 100 jobs in its home state of Connecticut and the rest were made around the country.
“We didn’t get out of any business line or anything like that,” spokesman Fred Laberge told the Associated Press. “It’s sort of across different job functions and staff areas.”
Aetna employs about 35,000 people, most in the U.S. The latest cuts will reduce the staff by less than two percent.
