HealthNow New York Eliminating 50 Positions in Buffalo

HealthNow New York Inc. announced it is eliminating 30 positions at its headquarters in Buffalo. The cuts, which will affect clerical and customer service workers, are being made as part of a company restructuring.

HealthNow is the parent company of BlueCross BlueShield of WNY. The cuts are expected to take place over the next two to eight weeks, Business Journal reports.

“The changes we announced continue our efforts to re-engineer process and streamline operations with a goal of improving service and responsiveness to our customers,” Karen Merkel Liberatore, director of public relations, said in a press release.

HealthNow has 2,300 employees, which includes 1,300 at it corporate headquarters in Buffalo. Business Journal reports the company had revenues of $2.27 billion in fiscal 2008.
