Spring Branch Medical Laying Off 720 Workers

Spring Branch Medical Center in Texas, which has been in existence for more than 50 years, is ending inpatient services and laying off 720 workers. The medical center is set to close on May 1 and the layoffs will be effective May 15, according to the Houston Business Journal.

Spring Branch Medical is laying off 509 full-time employees and 211 part-time workers. The layoffs were announced through documents filed last week with the Texas Workforce Commission.

Spring Branch Medical will continue to offer outpatient programs, including emergency care services, imaging services and radiation oncology program.
