Lynn Haven, Florida will be hard hit by massive layoffs by Sallie Mae unless the U.S. Senate moves quickly to change wording in the Health Care Bill. As many as 350 workers in loan origination stand to lose their jobs at Sallie Mae should the legislation remain unchanged. Education reform was tacked onto the Health Care Bill and in this case will prohibit private lenders from making new loans to students. The goal was to make the federal government the sole lender for education loans.
The senior vice president of the facility, Renee Mang, expressed her disappointment in House Representative Allen Boyd, D-Monticello who recently promised to save local jobs but did not act to save her employees.
Employees at the Lynn Haven Sallie Mae plant are mounting a campaign to call U.S. Senators Bill Nelson, D-Fla. and George LeMieux, R-Fla in an effort to save their jobs, reminding them of what Sallie Mae spokesman Rick Castellano said, “The student loan provisions buried in the health care legislation intentionally eliminate private-sector jobs at a time when our country can least afford to lose them.”
What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
