Edward Jones Hiring 1,000 New Financial Advisers This Year

St. Louis-based brokerage firm Edward Jones said it plans to hire 1,000 new financial advisers throughout the United States and Canada by the end of this year.The St. Louis Business Journal reports Edward Jones is benefiting from a growing trend of financial advisers leaving bigger brokerages and bringing their clients with them.
Edward Jones currently has 12,000 brokers in North America and had reported revenue of $3.5 billion in 2009. Few specifics were given on exactly where the hires will be made, but reports out of Chicago say the brokerage is adding 50 advisers in the Windy City and plans to double its headcount there over the next few years. Currently there are 375 advisers in Chicago.
“Chicago is just one of the many markets where we expect to grow,” spokesman Jon Boul told the Business Journal.
