The New York MTA has announced an additional approximately 1,000 positions that are being eliminated. Aaron Donovan, spokesman for MTA, said that the exact number is unknown.
On the list to be cut are 116 cleaning jobs. Previously the subway cars were cleaned at the end of their run, and will now be cleaned at the end of each round-trip. There are hundreds of administrative and managerial positions that are on the chopping block as well.
The cumulative cuts announced are anticipated to save $115 million and defray an overwhelming operating deficit. The changes are to go into effect as soon as possible.
eMTA announced yet another 2,000 job cuts were halted last night by a court injunction. There will be a court hearing on the issue Monday.
What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
