A board meeting will be held Friday by the Del Norte County Unified School District to determine whether 15 teachers will be laid off.
“We’re going ahead with layoffs with the possibility of rescinding if we come to bargaining agreements,” said Jan Moorehouse, the district superintendent who has held protracted negotiations with unions regarding the work year length and salary freezes.
Final layoff notices need to be sent out by May 15 so as to balance next years budget. The district is anticipating around a $3 million budget cut for next year.
A hearing was previously requested by nine of the teachers slated to be laid off, but a ruling in April determined the district did in fact follow proper protocol for the layoff procedures.
What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
