Fortune Publishes List Of 15 Biggest Job Losers

And the numbers are in … at least according to Fortune.com. It published yesterday its list of the 15 corporations with the largest number of job cuts.

Most notable in this group of Fortune 500 behemoths were Citigroup and Time Warner who collectively shed over 100,000 jobs in the last year. Most surprising, or perhaps not so, was third place Starbucks who let go of some 34,000 baristas last year.

Though tempting to comment on the seeming connection or symbiosis between the number of coffee jockeys needed to brew and serve lattes and frozen cappuccino drinks and the finance bankers and media executives who drink them, it would be insensitive here to do so. Suffice it to say that for every three workers shed by Citi and Time Warner, Starbucks had one less worker grinding beans and steaming soy milk.
