Quintiles Lays Off Employees at Headquarters

Pharmaceutical services company Quintiles Transnational laid off an unspecified number of workers at its Durham, North Carolina headquarters on Thursday. While he would not disclose the exact number of layoffs, spokesman Phil Bridges said that the number was lower than the 351 open jobs Quintiles currently has listed in the United States. Privately owned Quintiles is not required to release information such as revenue and detailed layoff figures.

Founded in 1982, Quintiles currently employs over 20,000 people worldwide. In 2006 the company added over 1,000 jobs to its Durham operations with the help of federal grants and tax breaks.
