The San Francisco Chronicle: President will not cede American’s leadership in green technology or the global economy. The president made the comments on Wednesday while speaking at a solar panel factory in Fremont, California.
The president called the recent gulf oil spill a wake up call, a reminder that American’s need to set their sights on developing safer, greener fuel alternatives. By setting their mind on green tech, he said, Americans would not only be helping the environment, but they would be securing a place in the global market and creating jobs.
A key part of the administrations economic recovery plan relies heavily on the creation of “green” jobs. The unfinished Solyndra factory he visited yesterday was clearly a symbol of that plan. Its construction has already created some 3,000 jobs and it will house over 1,000 for its ongoing operations.
