The Hagerstown Herald Mail: The 58 remaining employees at Northrop Grumman’s western Maryland operations facility received notice on Monday that they may lose their jobs within the next 60 days. The recent news follows layoffs earlier this year and will effectively shut down operations. 95 workers let go in May at the facility.
The layoff spree is the result of delays in the award of several regional government contracts the company has been pursuing. The company does not expect to have any work for the facility until late fall, said a company spokesperson. The facility services the P-3 surveillance aircraft.
