Upromise Investments Inc., a Massachusetts-based financial company, recently opened a new office in downtown Kansas City that will have around 80 workers 2014.
Upromise, a Fortune 500 company, opened the call center July 12. It will have 35 employees by the end of the year and an annual payroll of $1.5 million, company President Jeff Hawkins said at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Most of the jobs at the call center will be in data processing and salaries will range from $40,000 to $100,000.
Upromise Investments is a college savings program and is a subsidiary of SLM Corp., which is better known as Sallie Mae. Upromise Investments, which started in 2002, has more than 200 employees nationwide.
