Yet another hospital is announcing pending layoffs. Howard University Hospital in Washington D.C. will be laying-off an, as of yet, unknown amount of employees as they assess a major restructuring plan. CEO Larry Warren confirmed the new on Friday.

“To continue to provide the best services possible, the hospital has initiated a comprehensive plan that includes the restructuring of personnel and programs,” Warren said. “The plan includes a reduction in force that will allow the hospital to remain fiscally viable in these difficult economic times and to further advance its mission of providing quality care while reducing the region’s health care disparities.”

Ron Harris, the hospital spokesman, could not be reached for comment. The hospital did not state which department would experience cuts, nor were any other details of the restructuring released
