School Bus Manufacturer to Lay Off 220

The Thomas Built Buses plant in High Point, North Carolina will see about 220 workers laid off at the end of August. That according to the union that represents workers at the plant. The company has confirmed a temporary shutdown of the plant but remains tight-lipped about layoffs.Plant employee Maurice Pate is uncertain about management’s plans and his future prospects: “[the shutdown] could last a couple of months, it could be a year or so. It just depends how many bus orders come in.”
Thomas Built Buses is the leading manufacturer of school buses in the United States.
