El Camino Hospital to Lay Off 140

El Camino Hospital, which operates two campuses in the San Jose area and bills itself as “The Hospital of Silicon Valley,” announced Friday that it will be laying off 140 employees. Like many hospitals across the country, El Camino has seen a significant drop in patient volume due to the recession and a corresponding drop in revenue.A statement released by the hospital said, “”A reduction in force is necessary so that our operational costs aligned with patient revenues.”
The hospital currently employees about 3,000 people.
