Pfizer Plant Announces December Date For 115 Layoffs

A Pearl River Pfizer plant in New York will lose 115 employees come December. The plant’s pharmaceutical products division will take the cuts. As is required by law, Pfizer filed the layoff notice with the state’s Labor Department.

This is one round of layoffs out of many for the Pearl River plant. Since Pfizer acquired Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in October 2009, the company has announced more than 600 layoffs.

Pfizer considers the layoffs as part of its global restructuring plans.

Spokesman for Pfizer, Chris Loder, said the 115 layoffs were a part of the 601 layoffs previously announced. The 115 employees will have their last day on December 17.
