SMW Automotive announced Thursday that a new plant it is opening in Shelbyville, Tennessee will create 170 new jobs over the next five years. The plant, which is scheduled to begin production in the fall, is now accepting applications for employment.
“This announcement by SMW Automotive,” said Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen, “is a significant win for our state’s economy,” “I am very pleased to see this investment in our state by SMW Automotive, and I am confident our workforce will prove to be an asset for the company as it continues to grow.”
Troy, Michigan-based SMW manufactures chassis and suspension parts for GM, Ford, and Honda among other car companies.
