Layoff News
BAE Systems Inc., which manufactures numerous weapons systems as well as armor for military vehicles such as the Bradley fighting vehicle, announced yesterday that it would lay off about 300 workers in the Cincinnati area due partly to the loss of a $3 billion military contract to Wisconsin-based Oshkosh corporation.
The sluggish global economy and its effects on military budgets were also cited as reasons for the layoffs. The current layoffs are in addition to more than 600 layoffs which occurred earlier this year. About 850 BAE Systems employees are expected to remain the in Cincinnati area after the layoffs are complete.
