ABB Inc., the Swedish-Swiss multinational conglomerate that is leading in power and automation technology centered in Zürich, Switzerland, will be creating 130 jobs in North Carolina, bringing the grand total to 900 employees in North Carolina alone.  The ABB Group, which operates in over 100 countries around the world, employs more than 117,000 employees globally.  It is one of the largest engineering companies in the world and in 2009 reported a global revenue of $31.8 billion.

Of the new jobs being created in the United States, 100 will be at the new plant being commissioned for $90 million in Huntersville, North Carolina.  The plan will produce high-voltage and extra-high-voltage cables for long distance power transmission.  The remaining 30 positions will be at ABB’s North American headquarters in Cary, North Carolina.

ABB’s North American region manager Enrique Santacana sees the prospect as positive, “We have a very good and long-standing relationship with the state of North Carolina.  The combination of proximity to transportation, top-notch engineering talent, and an attractive living environment made Huntersville an excellent choice for this new cable facility.”

For more than 100 years, ABB and it’s predecessors Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget and Brown, Boveri & Cie, both Swiss, have helped countries all around the world develop, build, and maintain their infrastructures.
