Layoff News
The Mohegan Sun, one of Connecticut’s mega-casinos, has announced it will lay off more than 300 employees due to declining revenues during tough economic times. About 470 workers will technically be laid off but 120 of those will immediately be reassigned to other positions, leaving about 350 jobless. Today marks the first time that the Mohegan Sun has experienced mass layoffs since opening in 1996. Notices will go out to affected workers this evening.
The Mohegan Sun, owned and operated by Connecticut’s Mohegan tribe, currently employs more than 9,000 people.
