Rite Aid said it is closing a distribution center in central New York next year that will result in 388 workers being laid off.
According to the Associated Press, the layoffs will begin in January and the facility will close by July. The company did say affected employees will be offered the chance to apply for 60 jobs at its distribution center outside of Syracuse.
The closure of the Rome distribution center, which opened in 1972, is part of Rite Aid’s plan to consolidate its facilities, according to the AP. Officials said the Rome facility was in need of extensive repairs.
