A total of 483 jobs are being added to GM’s manufacturing complex in Spring Hill, Tennessee.
The growth is being spurred from the $483 million investment in the production of Ecotec 4-cylinder engines. GM is looking to pressure local and state officials to provide incentives to do the production at the currently idle Spring Hill plant. The move would triple the companies current North American production of 4-cylinder engines by 2012.
“Both of these investments highlight the confidence the company has in the work force in Spring Hill to produce outstanding quality engines for our products of today and tomorrow,” said North American president for GM Mark Reuss.
