Hyundai will create 1,000 new jobs from a Heavy Industries’ $90 million large transformer manufacturing facility in Montgomery, Alabama.
“Landing a world-class company like Hyundai Heavy Industries and creating 1,000 jobs in Alabama just shows how our commitment to economic development at the state and local levels has paid off,” said Governor Bob Riley. “Company leaders recognized that the quality of our workforce will help their business prosper here.”
Hyundai Heavy Industries was founded in 1972 and is a global business network operating in six business divisions: Shipbuilding, Offshore and Engineering, Industrial Plant and Engineering, Engine and Machinery, Construction Equipment and Electro Electric Systems.
Cities across four southern states competed for the jobs, but ultimately the state, county, city and several surrounding communities worked together to successfully recruit the company to Montgomery.
