Tips for Traveling with Kids
While going on a journey with kids plan in for a place for rest and food breaks. Now, obviously this only applies if the unit is you and your family. To take trips make sure, you find where it stops for food and rest room breaks.
Snacks. This is one of the non-obvious. Children like to snack. So make sure to bring plenty of snacks for them to travel. Not just to keep busy, but will save you money! Not have to worry about stopping every meal or buy snacks at the gas pump cause you have yours. Try to bring things such as fresh fruit and vegetables as a healthy supplement.
Comfort items. This is directed more toward younger children. When you are away from home, you will want to bring a couple of things that comfort them and remind them of home. This could be anything from a blanket, stuffed animal or favorite movie. This way is more relaxed.
Entertainment. Thinking on the age of your kid, you want to make sure you have the appropriate types of entertainment for them. When you are older, of course, you can deliver what they want to do, but for kids who want to make sure they are a bit naughty.
Bring a portable DVD player, books, music players and toys. You do not want things that are big and bulky, but things that are easily transported. My son has enough on the DVD player and movies are really easy to carry.
Identification. Depending on where you are going, make sure you have the right identification. Traveling with kids can be difficult sometimes if you are going to another country. You want to control the policies of the country you want. For example, when traveling from the U.S. to Canada you will need a passport for those aged over 16. If the child is under 16 must have their original birth certificate or a passport alternative. On top of that, you must have written consent from the mother of your child or parent, if both parents are not traveling.
